About AARP
AARP, which used to be known as the American Association of Retired Persons, was founded as a national organization to advocate for elders. Membership of AARP does confer some benefits, but they also offer many resources for the general public, no membership required.

Membership
If you are interesting in joining, membership costs $16
per year ($12 per year with auto-renewal set), and is actually open to anyone
over the age of 18. It includes:
- a subscription to AARP Magazine,
- various discounts at hotels, restaurants, travel, and on mobile phone service (about $10 off per month on ATT and Consumer Cellular),
- an included second membership for someone in your household,
- and other offers that may vary over time.

Unsubscribing From AARP Emails and Cancelling your AARP Account
AARP emails can be unsubscribed to via via the 'Unsubscribe' link at the bottom of any of their emails.
