Blocking Unwanted Calls On An iPhone

Go to the grey “Settings” button on the main iPhone screen
Go down the list of settings until you see the one labeled “Phone”
Go into the Phone settings by touching “Phone”. Go down the list of option that now appear until you find one called “Silence Unknown Callers”
Select the small grey arrow ( > ) to the right of this setting. This takes you to a place here you can turn on (green) or turn off (grey) the option to silence unknown callers.

Note: Be cautious about this. It only works well when you have placed all the phone numbers of people, doctor’s offices, etc. who you call or who call you regularly into your regular contacts. This is easy to do. (See steps below.)

1. When someone calls you or you call someone, that number appears in your “Recent Contacts” list when you first press the button on your main screen to make a call.

2. Identify the recent number/caller that you want to add to your Contacts and select the blue “i” in a circle to the right of the call.

3. This brings up a screen with miscellaneous information about the number and then a list as follows:

a. Share Contact – useful if you want to send someone’s contact information to another friends phone

b. Create New Contact – Press this and you will get a new screen where you can add the caller’s name to connect it with that phone number. You can also add the caller’s email if you know it, their address, their work number and notes about them if you so desire. After you have entered the caller’s name, etc, select “Done.” They will now be in your Contacts list.

c. Add to Existing Contact – this is especially helpful for doctor’s offices where they call you from a number other than their main line.

d. Add to Emergency Contacts – self explanatory

e. Share My Location – don’t use unless you are calling an ambulance

f. Block This Caller –this can be used if the recent call was from a spam caller. That number goes into your blocked caller list and phone calls from that number will be rejected outright.
