A Nonprofit with a Heart for the Community
FL Cares, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit registered in the State of Florida currently serving Gadsden, Wakulla, Jefferson, and Leon counties. Their Access Program focuses on using volunteers to provide functional home accessibility features. FL Cares will BUILD FOR ANYONE: therefore EVERYONE is eligible for their program! They build wheelchair ramps, accessible half-steps (having a riser of 4-5 inches) and a small step platform depth ranging from 18 - 36 inches.) If you need help accessing your home with a ramp or steps, simply call the number below to get started!
FL Cares has partnered with a local church to install grab bars (specifically in the bathroom – elsewhere as needed) to help any resident in Leon County seeking a better, safer, more functional means of access. Call FL Cares for more information.

More Information:
FL Cares has been in operation since the fall of 2018 and has completed over 900 access projects to date, with 340 (and counting) in the calendar year of 2024 and uses Eric Evans as the project coordinator. The non-profit does builds most Saturdays and often Sunday, plus occasionally during the week. The organization is very safety minded and great at instructing newbies in how to help with these fun projects. FL Cares is a 100% volunteer organization, from the board members, COO, and Project Leader, to the many spectacular and priceless volunteers from groups, churches, businesses, civic organizations, clubs, and individuals. FL Cares is committed to being a community partner that serves and "Builds Access to Improve Everyone's Ability!"
Eric Evans started volunteering in the fall of 2010 and has completed over 2100 access projects during his tenure, all with the help of many volunteers from all categories of groups/organizations. Working with students (of ALL ages) is a great resource as they are ready to learn and bring a wonderful energy that inspires new ideas and techniques. However, having a more mature workforce also is exhilarating as many have a more comfortable skill set that blends seamlessly into building better access.
Volunteering is how FL Cares gets the Job DONE!! We encourage volunteerism wholeheartedly and WELCOME ALL Groups while constantly look for new groups to join the access builds. Volunteers do not need any experience when building with FL Cares. If you can hold a cell phone, then FL Cares NEEDS YOU to help build and will find, train, teach, show, explain all that is needed to -- GET THE JOB DONE!!
Come volunteer often and LETS BUILD ACCESS!
